Thanks to everyone that nominated, voted, tweeted, and helped to spread the word. We really hope that we’ve drawn some attention to vampire fics, especially those that have flown underneath the radar.

A huge thanks to the group of ladies that helped to validate the entries. There were more than 300 fics nominated in 15 categories. They checked and rechecked each one, making sure that stories adhered to the rules and were nominated in the correct categories. It was a huge undertaking and we couldn’t have done it without them. My fellow admins were also pretty awesome and I’m really thankful for their help as well.

A very special thank to to julieblys, who made the banners for the winners this round. They are phenomenal. (Just wait until you see them!) She’s an amazing designer and I was so excited when she agreed to help out.

We’ll be back in the fall for the next cycle and will return to our normal format. See you in August!

In a normal awards cycle, the nominees are based upon the number of nominations each fic receives; the stories with the most advance to the voting round. There were lots of ties in lots of categories this cycle and it didn’t feel right to break them by number of reviews, which is what has been done in the past. Instead, in the spirit of honoring the under-reviewed and the under-appreciated, we decided to do something a little different.

Every fic that was nominated and passed validation was put through to the voting round. As long as the stories met review count and content requirements, you will see it listed on the nominees page. With this decision, we were able to honor more than 140 authors with a nomination. We hope you’ll take the time to read through the stories in your favorite categories and find some undiscovered gems.

Thanks so much to my fellow admins for their help and to all of the validators that put forth so much effort to make sure the stories were nominated in the correct category and met the standards which were set forth in the rules.

Welcome to the second cycle of The Vampies, awards honoring twilight vampfic!

This round, we’ve decided to try something new. Though the last cycle of awards was wildly successful, we still heard a few complaints. There were the same problems with our awards as there are with all the others: the little guy never has a chance. We wanted to give the lesser-known authors and new writers a chance….so we present to you, The Newborns.

The Newborns will not only be a celebration of Twilight vampire fic, but also of those fics and authors flying underneath the radar. We know there are lots of gems out there just waiting to be discovered and we hope that you’ll help us find them.

Because of the different slant of this cycle, a few of the rules have changed just a bit.

Nominated stories must have an average of 100 reviews or less per chapter. (For example, a story with 30 chapters and 2,000 reviews would be eligible; it would have an average of 67 reviews. However, a 10 chapter story with 2,000 reviews would not be eligible; it would have an average of 200 reviews per chapter.)

The top 3 categories–best canon, best au, and best overal–will be split in order two award two winners for each category. This will include fics that have between 1-50 reviews per chapter, and fics that average 51-100.

Nominated one-shots must have 50 reviews or less.

The categories have also changed a bit. We removed a few and added some new ones, so don’t forget to check them out. Nominations will begin soon! Awards dates and schedule are listed below.

Also, we will be looking for validators this time, just like last. If you are interested, please let us know.
