We had some AMAZING entries for the Pervy Picspiration Challenge! Thank you to all who participated!
One of the amazing things about this specific challenge is that, by partnering with the Perv Pack’s Smut Shack, we’re creating banners with pictures that have already been used to inspire stories, drabbles, and one-shots. Please consider putting your banner up for adoption so that these authors can have something pretty to go with their story.
Now for a little tease of the winners:
3rd Place:
Entry #7 – muserequired

2nd Place Tie:
Entry #8 – Belindella

Entry #10 – time_lights

The 1st place winnerwill be posted on the Perv Pack Smut Shack Saturday!
Artist reveal is below the cut!
Okay ladies (and maybe gentlemen for all I know), lay it on me.
As the self-proclaimed residential psychologist of this community, I would like to know:
What is appropriate and inappropriate to you when it comes to authors’ behaviour during the banner making process?
I want to hear from banner makers, in particular, if there are any rules that you have about banner requests. I also want to hear what behaviours/responses annoy the crap out of you.
You can list as many things as you like, and you can say whatever you want. You can come back and list more when you think of something. I want to hear about your personal rules.
All of these will be compiled into an article for authors on what not to do/what you can do when it comes to the banner making process. I will find the comments that have a recurring theme and do my best to word it in a way that best describes our feelings. When the list of rules is complete, we can share this around the fandom and educate authors about our world.
To give you guys the idea of what I’m looking for, I’ll go first:
1) It is offensive to request multiple banners from different artists for the same story. We spend hours on these graphics for you (out of the goodness of our hearts) so asking for another person to do the same thing makes us feel inadequate. We’re artists – we don’t like to share.
2) Do not say that you don’t have anyone in mind to portray your OC, therefore I can pick any teenage female with blonde hair. Because, when I do pick, 99% of the time, the author turns around and says “that’s not really who I had in mind”. Obviously you did care who your OC was, so you should have told me in the first place. We banner makers are NOT mind-readers. Saying “teenage female with blonde hair” does not automatically mean we know you’re talking about Britney Spears 10 years ago. We are good at interpreting your stories into visual form, but we don’t know the inner workings of your imagination.
3) Do not say “I LOVE this banner, but…” Obviously you don’t love it because you want to make changes. Say that you “like it, but a few changes would make it even better”.
4) If I email you the completed banner, email me back. Do not ignore me. If you don’t like the banner, just say so and I’ll work something out for you. Don’t worry about offending me – I won’t be disgruntled if you can tell me more of what you are looking for/what you don’t like. Ignoring me only puts you in a bad situation, and makes me want to rant about you to other graphic artists around.
5) Do not request a banner, and then not use it. Especially if your story is on Twilighted.net or Writers Coffee Shop. If you requested me to spend hours on some work for you, then I expect you to post it. Get a little, give a little.
Now, it’s your turn:
I know Catonspeed specificaly said that we couldn’t use pics in the background but I really wanted to do this!! I wish I could have spend more time on it but I’m really busy
This is the best I can do for now.
Catonspeed, I hope you will forgive me for not following the rules!!

I’ve never really tried this before. I liked it though and there are a couple of others I’m working on. I wanted to share these ones though. This is the first one I did.

So it’s ok. It’s not my favorite. Out of the three I’m sharing it’s in the middle. I’ll post the other two below the cut. Read the rest of this entry »
